Rotary International's new My Rotary database integration allows Rotary clubs and districts to link their local databases directly to the membership database maintained at RI World Headquarters.
My Rotary is now available to clubs and districts using SEMDA, the first system to offer this integration feature to local databases for Multi District. Sweden has worked closely with RI to establish this feature together with Denmark, Norway and Finland. The software package SEMDA is therefore possible to use in any District or country/MDA.
My Rotary aims to simplify how Rotary clubs and districts in a Multi District environment communicate with RI and to improve the quality of information used to support them. For example, when a club member's contact information is updated in a local database, the information is automatically updated in RI's database as well. This integration eliminates duplicate data entry efforts and gives Rotary clubs more accurate semiannual reports.
Participation is voluntary. Clubs and districts retain their autonomy and may opt in or out of OneRotary at any time. For security and privacy reasons, a club can only view and update its own member information.
How does SEMDA works?
The basic function is like a “Black Box”-solution, meaning that it transfers data back and forth between two different data systems, with a very well defined interface.
In this case, the local system sends on regular basis club- and member information, to SEMDA, using XML protocol. Also on regular basis, SEMDA connects to RI system, through Webservices provided by RI, and sends updates.
